When considering carbon-12, carbon-13 and carbon-14, what is it that makes all of these carbon?

Hello, I believe your answer is referring to the many isotopes of carbon, as carbon-12, 13, and 14 are all isotopes of carbon. What makes these all carbon is that they contain the same amount of protons (6), yet a different amount of neutrons making them an isotope of carbon.
