Keith's mom walked into his bedroom and looked around in dismay.
Piles of crumpled papers covered Keith's desk. Dirty clothes littered the
floor. Granola bar wrappers and empty water bottles perched on the
bedside table. Keith was lying in his unmade bed eating a piece of toast.
The crumbs fell around him onto the sheets. "This mess," Keith's mom
said. "What about it?" Keith retorted. With a sigh, Keith's mom began
loading dirty clothes into her arms to carry them downstairs to the laundry
room. Keith just watched. Before leaving the room, she paused at the door
to speak to her son. What should the mother say to her son to demonstrate
verbal irony?
