Answer:

y = - 8/3x - 7/3 Or 8x+3y+7=0

Explanation:

Given the points (-1,3) and (2,-5) the equation of the straight line can be given using the Two point formula :

y-y1 /x-x1 = y2-y1 /x2-x1

By substition of the points into the formula we have :

y-3/x-(-1) = - 5-3/2-(-1)

y-3/x+2 = - 8/3

Cross multiple

3(y-3) = - 8(x+2)

3y-9 = - 8x-16

By moving everything to one side of the equal sign we get the equation :

8x+3y+7 = 0

The same equation can be written in Gradient intercept form as:

y = - 8/3x - 7/3
