The Catholic Monarchs Ferdinand and Isabel, who granted the go-ahead for Columbus to launch the Great Expedition out of Palos Spain, considered the voyages of Columbus to be an absolute success. One of the main duties of the Catholic monarch, which is sometimes forgotten and purposefully ignored in today's climate of political correctness, was to spread the Roman Catholic faith to any potential new areas. The Portuguese King had an opportunity, but he squandered it. The Catholic Monarchs of Spain almost lost it, but after discovering that Columbus was en route to the Court of the King of France, they recognized their near-fatal error in postponing a decision on Columbus' proposal and made the most crucial choice of their lives: to support his mission. After the Muslim Turks cut off all connection between Christendom and the East in AD 1453, the Muslims unknowingly helped the Almighty Triune God by compelling United Spain to cross the ocean to the west in order to reach the East. A feat started by Columbus was finally completed by Magellan's global circumnavigation. And so, yes, the Columbus voyages were successful for the Spanish Catholic Monarchs when viewed in the context of the Protestant Reformation, which declared in 1517: With the split in Christendom caused by the Reformation, a whole new World—Mexico, Central America, and South America—was brought into the Catholic fold at the exact same time that England, Wales, Scotland, Germany, and Scandinavia were lost to the Protestant heresy. And if there is any doubt that one of Columbus' main goals and those of the Spanish Catholic Monarchs was to spread the Catholic Faith throughout newly discovered lands, it is important to keep in mind that Columbus' flagship, the Maria Galante, was given their explicit consent to be renamed the Santa Maria. Holy Maria, the ship that Columbus, the "Christ-Bearer" (as "Christopher" indicates), was determined to use to carry the Catholic Faith to the New World. Those other things... gold, glory, etc. Columbus and the Catholic monarchs came in second place. The pagans who seek to deface and demolish the statues of Columbus today are perfectly aware of this principal (Catholic) goal. These Pagans are aware of what "Columbus" signifies and has historically meant. Christians who fail to do so are the weak-willed ones; shame on them.

Thanks,

Eddie
