sum the 3 angles and equate to 180

x + 47 + x + 81 + 62 = 180

2x + 190 = 180 ( subtract 190 from both sides )

2x = - 10 ( divide both sides by 2 )

x = - 5

Then

∠ A = x + 47 = - 5 + 47 = 42°

all the angles in a triangle equal 180°, so you’d set up the equation like this:

Equation:

180=62+(x+81)+(x+47)

this may look complicated at first, but i assure you, it’s really not.

*subtract 62 from both sides*

118=(x+81)+(x+47)

*simplify*

118=2x+128

*subtract 128*

-10=2x

*divide by 2*

-5=x

now we have x, we can plug it in for side A.

-5+47=42.

your answer is 42
