Answer=

x = \frac { - 42}{5}

Explanation:

Greetings !

Given expression

2(1 + 5x) - 1 = - 83

Add 1 to both sides of the expression

2(1 + 5x) - 1 + 1 = - 83 + 1

simplify

2(1 + 5x) = - 82

divide both sides of the expression by 2

(2(1 + 5x))/(2) = ( - 82)/(2)

simplify the expression

1+5x=-41

subtract 1 from both sides

1 + 5x - 1= - 41 - 1

simplify the expression

5x = - 42

divide both sides of the expression by 5

(5x)/(5) = - (42)/(5)

simplify we finally get

x = - (42)/(5)

Hope it helps !
