The solution will be as follows;

-3 - (a - 2) = 7a + 15
-3 -a + 2 = 7a + 15
-1 - a = 7a + 15
- a - 7a = 15 + 1
-8a = 16
-a = 16 ÷ 8
-a = 2
a = -2

And finally, the value of a is -2.
