Why did violence play a part in reducing freedmen to dependent sharecroppers?

So Southerners were particularly biased against all African Americans so when they were “freed” by Abraham Lincoln with the Emancipation Proclamation they were already bound for issues. As former slaves they had not been entitled to an education nor employment, so when they were “free” they had nothing and nowhere to go. Leaving them only to return to their former slaveholders for a “job” in which they were given a very small portion of land which they had to rent and pay produce taxes on causing them to never have any money and escape the debt they accrued. Not only that there was mass lynching and even laws were biased towards the landowners and sharecroppers couldn’t sell their crops to anyone but their renters
