A cookie recipe calls for 31/4 cups of flour. The recipient makes 3 dozen cookies. how much flour needed to make 144 cookies

Explanation:

If you need 3 1/4 cups to make a batch of 3 dozen, it will take 4 TIMES as much flour to make 12 dozen. 144 is 12 dozen. So you are making 4 batches.

3 1/4 × 4 = 13

Or if you want to use a calculator, (1/4 is a quarter is .25, like money, right?)

3.25 × 4 = 13

A double recipe gives you 6 dozen and so you need 6 1/2 cups of flour, double that and you get the 13 cups.

Or just add:

3 1/4+3 1/4+3 1/4+3 1/4 =

3+3+3+3 +

1/4+1/4+1/4+1/4 =

13
