Answer:

2013 Lesego Rampolokeng's poetry in Johannesburg

This poem shows Johannesburg's situation. The poet uses figurative language to help the reader see the situation, even if they've never been there. The poem's imagery and word choice form a picture of the city in the readers' thoughts.

"My city is paved with Judas gold, deceptions and lies; dreams come here to die." as the poet states in the first stanza. People come to Johannesburg to achieve their dreams but fail. Promises to help them are all lies. The poet feels betrayed by the city, hence the "Judas" image. He and others hoped to die, but their dreams died in the city. If a dream dies, a person hasn't completed what they wanted. People come to Johannesburg for the gold. Gold is a wealth-producing material. Because the location has gold, many individuals want to get rich there.
