Sin is wrong thinking, thinking that causes you to act in ways that harm yourself or others. God's love for us is him trying to get us to change our thinking and motivations so we are led not only to care for others but also we know how and why. So when we sin, when we follow our thinking we are actually getting in the way of God's work in us and through us.

Answer:

By rejecting God's love, we reject God's benefits. God's forgiveness is rejected, as is a personal relationship with God, and ultimately, eternal life and heaven an eternal, intimate relationship with God are forfeited.
