If we picture a place value chart, we can see that there are ones, tenths, hundredths, thousandths, etc. The 7 lands on the tenths area cause as we can see, our denominator is 10. So therefore, the answer is 1.7.

Multiply the whole number by the denominator

1 ✖ 10 = 10

Add the result of step 1 to the numerator

10 ➕ 7 = 17

Divide the result of step 2 by the denominator

17 ➗ 10 = 1.7

So the answer is that 1 7/10 as a decimal is 1.7.
