If a sugar is metabolized in the presence of oxygen, do acids get produced or bases? Explain.

FYI- I’m not 100% sure

But.. considering the context of the question I assume what is occurring can be explained as Aerobic Cellular Respiration, of which the products are Carbon Dioxide and Water. Now, this is controversial to me as I believe water can act as an acid OR a base, but as this is contrary to metabolism and it’s counterpart which would be anaerobic respiration which definitely produces lactic ACID, I would say that bases are produced in the presence of oxygen
