I NEED HELP ASAP!!!!

3(2x + 4) = 60
I KNOW ITS X= 8x..... BUT WHY IS IT THAT ANSWER I DON'T UNDERSTAND!!

Explanation:

First, we know that we can't add 2x and 4, so we use the distributive property with 3. 3 times 2x is 6x and 3 times 4 is 12

Our new equation is 6x+12=60

We want the X alone, so how do we do that? first, we subtract the 12 from both sides, giving us 6x=72

We don't want the 6 on the X.

6x really means 6 times X. so to get rid of the six we do the opposite: division.

Now, we divide the 6 on the X side giving us 1x or it can just be written as X. And then we divide the 72 by 6 which gives us 12.

So, X=12
