Tegan wants a new bag. its normal price is $36. it has now been discounted by 20%. Tegan also has a card that gives her a further 5% discount. what did she pay for the bag ?
( answer to the nearest 5 cents)

total 25 percent discount

75/100 times regular price of 36

=27

however it could also be interpreted as 20 percent and then a seperate 5 percent

36×80/100×95/100

=27.36
