Decimals however are not a type of whole number. Integers can be expressed as a decimal but the majority of numbers that can be expressed as decimals are not integers. If there are any non-zero digits after the decimal point, the number is not an integer. (65.000 = 65 is an integer. 0.5, 65.0007, and 3.250 are not integers.)

When writing an integer, we usually omit the infinite zeroes after the decimal point because they provide no additional information about the number. Exceptions to this (45.0) are usually meant to show that the number has been rounded.
