k = -3

Explanation:

f(x) = x + 4

g(x) = -3x - 12

Plug this in for g(x) = k*f(x)

[NOTE: the dot * is a multiplication sign]

-3x -12 = k(x+4) divide by x-4 on both sides

-3 = k we're done!
