Pythagoras' Theorem is "a²+ b² = c²".

a² + 8² = 10²

Rearrange.

10² - 8² = a²

10² = 100

8² = 64

100 - 64 = 36

a² = 36

√36 = 6

a = 6

in other words

x = 6
