There are 5 flower gardens in front of the building where Eddle works. Eddle has 40 red and 80 white flowering plants to put in the gardens. How

many plants will be in each garden, if he plants the same number in each?

24 flowers

First we have to add the number of red flowers he has to the number of white flowers he has. This gets us the total number of flowers he has to plant. 40 plus 80 gets us 120 total flowers. Next we must divide this total number of flowers by the number of beds to get how many flowers will be planted in each bed. 120 divided by 5 is 24 flowers per bed.
