Explanation:

f(x) is not a function. In order to be a function, every x can only be partnered up with one y.

In the diagram shown, 5 is partnered up with both 1 and also 3. If this info was written like points, the points (5,1) and (5,3) would both be on the list (and graph). This makes it not a function.

Because of the TWO arrows going from the 5 (and pointing at TWO DIFFERENT numbers), it's not a function.
