Four months ago, a stock was $15 a share. Currently, it is $15.75 a share. 1 point A market analyst trusts a linear model in his business as a predictor of future events. Using a linear model, predict the value of a share 42 months from now if the trends continue.

What is the value of x in the following equation? Write your answer in
decimal form. Do not round.

2(4x+2)-(x-4)=3(x+2)

Please explain these as well

Answer:

1. $22.8 rounded to the nearest cent.

2. x =
(-1)/(2)

Explanation:

1. If we are using a linear model. We need to know the slope and the y intercept

y = mx + b The y-intercept would be 15. The slope would be how much the price of the stock increased over a period of time. The stock increases $.75 in 4 months or $0.1875 per month.

y = .1875x + 15 If we used this equation we can see that in four months the price of a share would be 15.75.

y = .1875(4) + 15

y = 15.75 Now we will do the same thing, but for 42 months

y = mx + b

y = .1875(42) + 15

y = 22.875 Rounded to the nearest penny would be 22.88

2. 2(4x + 2) - (x -4) = 3(x+2) Use the distributive property

8x + 4 -x + 4 = 3x + 6 Combine like terms

7x + 8 = 3x + 6 Subtract 3x from both sides

4x + 8 = 6 Subtract 8 from both sides

4x = -2 Divide both sides by 4

x =
(-2)/(4) =
(-1)/(2)

2 = X = -1

2. 2(4x+2) - (x-4) = 3(x+2)

Expand tge expression

= 8x + 4 -x +4 = 3x + 6

CLT ( Combine like terms)

= 7x + 8 = 3x + 6

Rearrange the terms

7x - 3x = 6 - 8

CLT

4x = -2

Divide both sides by 4

x = -2

4

x = -1
