4x + y = 6x - 1

Convert the format into slope-intercept form

This is the clearest form in my personal opinion, it allows you to pinpoint the intercept on the y-axis and the slope

y = mx + b

  • m = Slope
  • b = y-intercept

Subtract 4x on both sides

This is to move 4x onto the other side to isolate the y value

4x + y - 4x = 6x - 1 - 4x

y = 2x - 1

Interpret the expression

y = mx + b

y = 2x - 1

Slope = 2

y-intercept = -1
