In a school 6 out of every 11 children are girls.

If there are 407
children in the school there are:
boys and
girls.

Answer:

222 girls

185 boys.

Explanation:

For every 11 pupils there are 6 girls and 5 boys.

That is 5/11 are boys and 6/11 are girls.

So number of girls in the school

= 407 * 6/11

= 2442/11

= 222 girls.

Number of boys = 407 * 5/11

= 2035/11

= 185. boys.

Check these values:

222+ 185 = 407

- correct.
