The average (mean) mass of an apple is 14g. The total mass of the

apple basket is 182g. So, how many apples are there in the basket?

The mean is the total mass (182g) divided by how many apples there are.
182/x = 14
We can rearrange this by multiplying both sides by x to get 182 = 14x
Then dividing both sides by 14 to get x equal to 182/14 which is 13
So there are 13 apples
