When the atom is pulled away only slightly, so that it is still within the attraction curve on the graph, does it move in response to attractive or repulsive forces?

When two atoms are close to each other they tend to repel and when they are far away but hasn’t still broken the limit they tend to attract but sorry I don’t want to give u a wrong answer I don’t know
