Gravity has an effect on the ease of landing on moons and planets. And on leaving! Actually Earth is about as heavy a planet as one could want. It takes a lot of fuel to leave Earth and a huge amount of energy to ship anything from Earth. Hence the attraction of using the moon or Mars as a base for exploration. But if you have to ship everything to the moon and then transship to other destinations it’s a losing proposition. The only thing that would make it work would be the ability to find lots of water and oxygen on the moon.
