Use elimination.

Add the equations by columns to get the third equation,

2x+5x=7x

3y-3y=0

13+1=14

The new equation has only one unknown,
7x+0=14 so
x=2.

Now plug in the fact that
x=2 into one of the equations and solve for y (I will pick 2nd equation),

5\cdot2-3y=1

-3y=-9\implies y=3.

The value of
x=2 and
y=3.

Hope this helps :)
