given 2 similar figures with

ratio of corresponding sides = a : b , then

ratio of areas = a² : b²

here ratio of sides = 5 : 2

ratio of areas = 5² : 2² = 25 : 4

let x be the area of A'B'C'D' , then by proportion


(25)/(115) =
(4)/(x) ( cross- multiply )

25x = 460 ( divide both sides by 25 )

x = 18.4

area of A'B'C'D' = 18.4 units²
