Explanation:

give endpoints (x₁, y₁ ( and (x₂, y₂ ) then the midpoint is

(
(x_(1)+x_(2) )/(2) ,
(y_(1)+y_(2) )/(2) )

here (x₁, y₁ ) = K (9, - 7 ) and (x₂, y₂ ) = L (x, y )

use the midpoint formula and equate to corresponding coordinates of M


(9+x)/(2) = 5 ( multiply both sides by 2 to clear the fraction )

9 + x = 10 ( subtract 9 from both sides )

x = 1

and


(-7+y)/(2) = - 7 ( multiply both sides by 2 )

- 7 + y = - 14 ( add 7 to both sides )

y = - 7

Then L = (1, - 7 )
