Explanation:

5x - 4y = 10 ____eq1

x + 2y = 9 ____eq2

5x=10+4y

x = (10 +4y)/5 ____eq3

x = 9 -2y ____eq4

Using eq3 and eq 4 to solve simultaneously,

9 - 2y = (10 +4y)/5

45 -10y = 10 +4y

14y = 25

y =2.5

if y =2.5,

x = 9 -2y = 9 - 2(2.5) =4
