What tone does the following scene from "The Monkey's Paw" by W.W. Jacobs demonstrate?

Scene:
"Come back," he said tenderly. "You will be cold."
"It is colder for my son," said the old woman, and wept afresh
The sound of her sobs died away on his ears. The bed was warm, and his eyes heavy with sleep.
Mournful
Silly

Relieved or mournful. I don’t really know the context of the story but if he is a figment of his imagination or a burden on him then it would be relief. If he is ignoring her because he cannot help her then it is mournful.
