One number is 2 less than a second number. Twice the second number is 5 less than 3 times the first. Find the two numbers.

Answer:

9 and 11

Explanation:

First number = x -2

Second number = x

and 2x = 3(x-2) - 5

2x = 3x - 6 - 5

x = 11

first number = 11-2 = 9
