Answer:

Because the suphuric acid is an acid, and the Sodium hydroxide is a base. The acid make the pH of the solution decrease, and the base make the pH of the solution increase, when you put both together, there are chemical reactions of exchange of radicals, and the pH of the solution stabilize not too low or too high.
