Why did ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment actually increase the voting strength of the

Southern states?

A- Freed Black men could now be counted as 3/5 instead of 1/5 for representation purposes.

B- Since enslaved people were now free, they would be allowed to vote.

C- Although there were now no enslaved people, the freed Blacks would always vote as Southerners
since that is how they were raised.

D- Many freed Black men moved back to the South to become landowners so they could vote.

E- Since there were now no enslaved people, the freed Blacks would all be counted for purposes of
representation. As a result, there would be a large number of new Southern Congressmen.

The answer is B. The 13th amendment freed slaves how ever that didn't mean they were treated fairly in the south, many of times Jim crow laws were put in place to keep freed slaves from voting, the laws include poll tax, literacy test, and more, females were also still at this time unable to vote as well. The 13th amendment is part of the reconstruction amendments which are 13, 14, 15
