Answer:

Area of the side walk = 151
m^(2)

Explanation:

Given: Diameter of circular flower bed = 22 m

Width of circular side walk = 2 m

\pi = 3.14

Area of the side walk = area of flower bed with side walk - Area of flower bed

Area of a circle =
\pi
r^(2)

where r is the radius of the circle.

i. For the circular flower bed, diameter = 22 m. So that,

radius =
(diameter)/(2)

=
(22)/(2) = 11 m

Area of circular flower bed =
\pi
r^(2)

= 3.14 x 11 x 11

= 379.94

Area of the circular flower bed = 380
m^(2)

ii. For the flower bed with side walk, diameter = 26 m. So that,

radius =
(diameter)/(2)

=
(26)/(2) = 13 m

Area of flower bed with side walk =
\pi
r^(2)

= 3.14 x 13 x 13

= 530.66

Area of flower bed with side walk = 531
m^(2)

Area of the side walk = 531 - 380

= 151
m^(2)
