The two equations above are not equivalent because according to PEMDAS, you have to solve the numbers in the parenthesis first. Therefore, 8 x (4 x 3) = 96 and (8 x 4) x 3 = 72

They are equivalent because they have the same numbers and when you do the math it give 96 for both of them
