Answer:

Z = -11

Explanation:

When dealing with variables, you want to get it alone so it instantly equals the number.

Since Z is being multiplied by -5, you're going to divide -5 because that's the opposite of multiplying--but you have to do it on both sides, not just the one.

Note that when you're dividing or multiplying a negative and positive number, the result with ALWAYS be negative!

-5Z = 55

/-5 /-5

Z = -11

Just in case, we'll plug in -11 for Z and see if it works.

-5(-11) = 55

Note again that when you're multiplying two negatives it cancels out the negative and makes the answer positive!
