What’s So Good About Going Green?
Going green. It’s something that a lot of people have been doing recently. What is going green? What are its benefits? What are the negatives to going green?
Well, I’ve got the answers for you.
What is going green? Well, going green is whenever someone decides to do things environmentally friendly. Usually recycling products such as plastic bottles. Also reusing cardboard boxes, growing your own fruits and vegetables, planting trees, using biodegradable packaging instead of plastic, etc. Going green ultimately can be either a lifestyle or just small simple things you can change in your life to better the environment.
Going green has a plethora of benefits that go along with it. One of them is reducing pollution. Reducing pollution is a positive in many different ways. It helps us breathe in safer, cleaner air. Which ultimately keeps our body healthier and increases our likelihood of living a long healthy life. Not only does it keep us humans safer but it also keeps our wildlife safe. It’ll protect animals from harmful potents that can wipe out species, cause mutations, and ultimately destroy the ecosystem. It also keeps Earth running in its natural order of things. Protecting it from non-biodegradable waste, destroying the O-Zone layer, polluting oxygen, keeping the food chain intact, and keeping the Earth healthy as a whole.
The downside of going green is a couple of things. First off, it has a high initial cost. Unless you have extra money set aside, going green might be difficult. Purchasing organic products is a more pricy version of products you already use. As well as the fact that it takes quite a long time to have any real impact. You’d have to spend most of your life going green for it to have any actual effect on Earth. Even then, it’s not really doing much unless a lot of other people are doing it over the decades and centuries. This means it’s going to have a decent effect on your wallet throughout the years. Whether this is worth it to you or not is based on your ideologies and list of importance.
In conclusion, going green has an overall positive effect on Earth in the sense that it’s helping protect animals and humans, and it is overall a healthier lifestyle. There are a plethora of benefits that come along with it. Although, there are a few downsides to going green if you look in the short term and only focus on the smaller negative details.
