first start by finding the area of the rectangle by multiplying its base by its height (5*6), this gets you 30 cm2. next find th area of the pointy top by multiplying its base by its height (4*5), this gets you 20 cm2. you can find the area of the top because the area of a triangle is 1/2 base times height and since the pointy top can make 2 seperate triangles with bases 5/2 your left with each individual triangle being 2.5*4*1/2 and to get both triangles you have to multiply 2.5*4*1/2 by 2 leaving you with 10 cm2. finally you add 30 cm2 and 10cm2 to get 40 cm cubed. hope this helps
