How did the Native Americans have control of their lands and protection from new

settlers in the early 1800S?

The indian reservation system was basically created to keep Native Americans off the lands, Which was what European Americans wished to settle. These reservation systems allowed indigenous people to be able to govern themselves and to maintain some of their culture and social traditions as well.
