The slaves who began singing the blues and spirituals hundreds of years ago had good reasons for singing the blues. List some of their reasons. Why do you think people sing blues music today? Are their reasons similar to those of the slaves? please give reasonable explanations

Answer:

Music oftentimes can give people an escape from the reality they face. Many slaves sang the blues to take away from the horrs they faced as they picked crops. It made things go by a little bit faster. They also incorperated old traditions into these songs. Since many white slave owners forced slaves to give up their native African cultures, they would incorperate little bits and and peices of their stories into their music.

This is the same with modern blues performers. Many of them create and sing blues music to preserve their histories and to liven up hard times.
