Jonas did the right thing in fleeing the Community? How do you think Jonas would have reacted
to learning about the true nature of release if Gabriel had not been involved? (The Giver)

I think Jonas did the right thing fleeing the community. Throughout the novel he makes certain choices that distinguish himself as an individual in contrast to the community which acts the same. By leaving, he allows for the people in the community to have access to the memories while the Giver is able to help the people cope. Through his decision to leave, he also saves Gabe.

I do think that him leaving the community was a good idea because if he stayed gave would be released. I think that jonas may have reacted similarly if him finding out about what releasing really meant did not involve gabe because it would change his whole perspective and probably anger him still the same. although I do feel like gabe being involved hit a nerve.
