I chose the second one. Yes, volunteering is, or at least should be a responsibility for all citizens because if there are no more volunteers for anything, if everyone wanted a reward for doing something that benefits others, then what kind of people would we be? There are so many benefits for everyone, there should be no hesitation when the question is asked. You might gain experience for a job you want to have in the future, you could be first for something because you have been recognized for doing a good deed, and, I don't think I have to mention it again but I will. What about the people you are volunteering for? You helping them probably means the world to them and it makes you feel great too.
