Area of trapezoid

  • 1/2(sum of parallel sides)(height)
  • 1/2(8+4)x
  • 12x/2
  • 6x

Now

  • 6x<18
  • x<3cm

Answer:

The area of trapezoid is:

  • A = 1/2(8 + 4)*x = 6x

Since the area is less than 18 cm², the inequality is:

  • A < 18 or
  • 6x < 18

Simplify by dividing both sides by 6:

  • x < 3
