Can someone please tell me the difference between being a detective on the police force, vs. a crime scene investigator? (csi)

Thank you!

One is to solve crimes
And the other is to try and stop some crimes

Step-by-step explanation:

Detective: A person, especially a police officer, whose occupation is to investigate and solve crimes.

CSI:A Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) is in charge of extracting every possible piece of evidence from a particular crime scene. More often than not, they are employed by state or federal law enforcement, but civilians with a background in science may also be qualified for this position.
