Answer:

I've short trick for you to remember litmus

BRA = Blue to Red ➜ Acid

RBB = Red to Blue ➜ Base

0 to 7 ➜ Acidic

7 ➜ Neutral

7 to 14 ➜ Basic

Ans 1:

  • Ammonia turns red litmus into blue it shows that the process is Basic
  • The pH of Ammonia is 11.6

Ans 2:

  • Ammonium sulfate can be made in the lab using dilute ammonia solution and dilute sulfuric acid
  • Ammonia + Sulfuric acid → Ammonium sulfate.
  • 2NH₃+ H₂SO₄ → (NH₄)₂SO₄

Ans 3:

  • A moist red litmus paper when inserted in the jar containing ammonia gas turns into blue.

Ans 4:

  • A concentrated solution of ammonia, ammonium compounds, and sulfur compounds, obtained as a by-product in the destructive distillation of bituminous coal.
