Explanation:

A is a full diamond which is equal to 3cm²

B has: 7 full diamonds and five 1/2 diamonds

Five 1/2 diamonds = 2 full diamonds and 1/2 a diamond.

If 1 diamond(A) = 3cm²

What about 9 diamonds = ?

= (9 × 3) ÷1

= 27cm²

If 1 diamond(A) = 3cm²

What about 1/2 a diamond = ?

= 1/2 × 3

= 1.5cm²

Total = 27 + 1.5

= 28.5cm²
