Do you think the reconstruction was a success or failure? How did it affect particular groups in the U.S?

For the most part it was a success. All states that had rebelled ended up acknowledging the 13th 14th and 15th amendments. However people in the south had become extremely hostile towards people of color with the establishment of the KKK. Plus the South had become poverty stricken.
