In general terms, in Latin America the matricentiated family is one of the most common family structures, a model under which 80% or more of the population lives, made up of the woman-mother and children. In this reality, a family structure predominates where the father is virtually absent from this nucleus. This absence is not necessarily physical. It can also be an emotional absence. Therefore, the mother is the truly central figure in both aspects of the lives of Venezuelans. This scheme prevails in almost the entire region.
