Given that :

Figure 2 = 8 tiles

Figure 5 = 14 tiles

Growth rate :

(Figure 5 - figure 2)x= 14 - 8

3x = 6

x = 6/3

x = 2

(Figure 40 - figure 2) = 38 * x

Initial number of tiles + 38x

8 + 38(2)

8 + 76

= 84

Figure 40 = 84 tiles
